چکیده
Abstract In tokamak plasmas, the interaction among micro-turbulence, zonal flows (ZFs) and energetic particles (EPs) can affect turbulence saturation level consequent confinement quality thus, is important for future burning plasmas. this work, EP anisotropy effects on ZF residual are studied by using anisotropic distributions with dependence pitch. Significant long wavelength ZFs have been found when small to moderate width around dominant pitch in distribution function assumed. addition, it that enhanced barely passing/trapped and/or deeply trapped EPs, but suppressed well passing intermediate EPs. Numerical calculation shows ASDEX Upgrade typical functions bring −3% +5.5% mitigation/enhancement level, depending functions.

PSFC / JA - 06 - 25 Plasma shaping effects on the collisionless residual zonal flow level
Plasma shaping e¤ects, such as elongation, triangularity and Shafranov shift have long been considered an important ingredient in improving tokamak performance. It is known that the growth rate of ion temperature gradient (ITG) turbulence can be regulated by these shaping e¤ects and that the ITG turbulence level can also be regulated by zonal ‡ow. Moreover, recent numerical simulation shows tha...

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
Effects of finite poloidal gyroradius, shaping, and collisions on the zonal flow residual
Zonal flow helps reduce and regulate the turbulent transport level in tokamaks. Rosenbluth and Hinton have shown that zonal flow damps to a nonvanishing residual level in collisionless M. متن کاملPSFC/JA-06-20 Short wavelength effect on the collisionless neoclassical polarization and residual zonal flow level
Sheared zonal ow helps to reduce the turbulent transport caused by the ion temperature gradient (ITG) mode. Rosenbluth and Hinton (R-H) calculated the residual zonal ow level for radial wavelengths that are much larger than the ion poloidal gyroradius. Their calculation is extended to treat arbitrary radial wavelengths. For the radial wavelengths that approach the ion poloidal gyroradius, but...
متن کاملEffects of Collisional Zonal Flow Damping on Turbulent Transport
Results from 3D global gyrokinetic particle simulations of ion temperature gradient driven microturbulence in a toroidal plasma show that the ion thermal transport level in the interior region exhibits significant dependence on the ion-ion collision frequency even in regimes where the instabilities are collisionless. This is identified as arising from the Coulomb collisional damping of turbulen...
